Advanced Placement (A. P.) Biology
Description - This course is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory biology course aimed towards providing students with a conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical skills needed to deal with the rapidly changing science of biology. This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to experience the process-based nature of science while developing a conceptual framework for modern biology emphasizing the integration of eight major themes: Science as process; Evolution; Energy transfer; Continuity and change; Relationship of structure to function; Regulation; Interdependence in nature; Science, technology, and society. Reports, presentations, class discussions, integration of technology tools, literature research, peripheral article analysis, detailed laboratory investigations, and a required scientific project will be expected of the students.
